Who we are

About Us

Our mission, our story, and the people who make it happen.

Our Mission

Aotearoa Tamil (நியூசிலாந்து தமிழ் புத்தக மன்றம்) is a non-profit community organisation based in Christchurch, New Zealand, founded to preserve and promote the Tamil language, literature, and culture among Tamils living in Aotearoa.

We operate a community library of Tamil books, organise cultural events including the annual Tamil Language Festival, and provide pathways for Tamil language learning through partnerships with the Tamil Virtual Academy.

Our goal is to ensure that the next generation of Tamil New Zealanders stays connected to their heritage — through books, festivals, and community belonging.
